Adding a Temperature and Humidity Sensor

A small USB temperature/humidity sensor plugged into an Axion Displays Radar Node reports the ambient room conditions around the installation – separate from any temperature reading the projector or display itself reports over RS232/PJLink (which reflects internal lamp/engine temperature, not room conditions). Useful for confirming a projection booth, rack, or enclosure is actually within a safe operating range.

Requirements

  • A compatible USB HID temperature/humidity sensor (Ask your Sales Manager for specifics).
  • No dashboard configuration or one-time setup step needed for this one – plug it into a USB port on the Axion Displays Radar Node and it’s picked up automatically on the next poll cycle.

Viewing Readings

Once detected, two fields start appearing wherever device metrics show up – the Diagnostics page’s Telemetry section, Add Widget‘s metric picker, History charts, and Alert Rules:

  • Ambient Temperature – always reported, in °C.
  • Humidity – only reported if your specific sensor model actually supports humidity; a temperature-only unit won’t show this field at all rather than showing a fake 0%.

These are intentionally separate from the projector’s own Temperature field (RS232/PJLink) – a device with both a projector connection and this sensor attached will show both values side by side, since they measure two genuinely different things.

Troubleshooting

  • Readings look clearly wrong (stuck at 0, or way off) – this usually means a different sensor revision than the one Axion Displays Radar is tuned for. Contact support with the exact sensor model/hardware ID so it can be added.
