Every Axion Displays Radar Node needs a network connection to report data to your dashboard. This guide walks through first-time setup, checking status later, and reconnecting to a different network if you ever need to.
First-Time Setup
If your Axion Displays Radar Node has never been connected to a network before, the display it’s attached to will show setup instructions directly on screen:
- On your phone or laptop, join the Wi-Fi network named “Axion Displays Radar <device ID>” – you’ll see the exact name on screen. This is a temporary setup hotspot broadcast by the Node itself, not your venue’s real network.
- A setup page should open automatically on your phone or laptop.
- If it doesn’t open on its own, open a browser and go to 192.168.42.1.
- Choose your venue’s real Wi-Fi network from the list and enter its password.
Once connected, the temporary setup hotspot disappears on its own, and the screen switches to showing the Node’s live status instead.
Checking Connection Status
Once online, the connected display shows:
- A green Online indicator with the current network name and IP address.
- Two QR codes – one opens the Node’s local Wi-Fi settings page on your phone, the other opens the Axion Displays Radar dashboard directly.
No display attached, or the screen busy with something else? You can also check status by opening the Node’s local settings page in a browser: http://<node-ip>:8080. Your installer can give you the current IP address, or you can find it by scanning the QR code shown on screen while the Node is still visible.
Reconnecting to a Different Network
If you need to move a Node to a different venue or switch it onto a new network:
- Open the Node’s local settings page (
http://<node-ip>:8080) and log in with the access details your installer provided. - Click Reconfigure Wi-Fi.
- The Node drops its current connection and the temporary setup hotspot reappears – follow the First-Time Setup steps above to join it to the new network.
An administrator can also trigger this remotely from the Axion Displays Radar dashboard without needing physical access to the Node – ask your installer if you need this done for a site you can’t easily reach.
Troubleshooting
- Don’t see the setup hotspot? Make sure the Node has power and give it a minute to fully boot.
- Setup page didn’t open automatically? This depends on your phone or laptop’s own network settings – browsing directly to
192.168.42.1always works as a fallback. - Node was online before but shows offline now? Check that your venue’s Wi-Fi network hasn’t changed its password, and that the Node is still within range of your router/access point.
- Still stuck? Contact your system integrator or Axion Displays support – the current connection status is also visible remotely from the Axion Displays Radar dashboard’s page.
