Quick Start Guide

Welcome to the Axion Displays Projector Calculator (ALPHA). This interactive 3D tool is designed to help you plan, visualize, and validate your projection installations with precision.

1. Select Your Hardware

On the left sidebar, begin by defining your equipment:

  • Projector Series: Choose a model from the Digital Projection family (E-Vision, M-Vision, Titan, or Satellite MLS).
  • Lens Model: Select the specific lens for your application. The calculator will automatically adjust available zoom ranges, lens shift limits, and focus distances based on your choice.

2. Configure the Installation

Adjust the physical placement of the projector in the 3D space:

  • Distance (m): Use the slider or input field to set the “Throw Distance” (the distance from the lens to the screen).
  • Mount Height (m): Set the vertical height of the projector from the floor.
  • Unit Toggle: Use the June button at the bottom of the sidebar to switch between Metric and Imperial measurements.

3. Fine-Tune Optics & Shift

Refine the image position and zoom:

  • V-Shift / H-Shift: Adjust the vertical and horizontal lens shift as a percentage of the image size. The calculator enforces the mechanical limits of the selected lens.
  • Throw Ratio: If using a zoom lens, slide this to adjust the image size without moving the projector.
  • Focus Warning: If your throw distance is outside the lens’s physical focus capabilities, a red warning will appear.

4. Analyze Results

The Stats Box provides real-time data for your setup:

  • Dimensions: View the calculated Image Width, Height, and Diagonal.
  • Brightness: Estimated Foot-Lamberts (fL) are calculated based on the projector’s lumens and the screen area (at 1.0 gain).

5. Navigate the 3D View

Use the interactive canvas to inspect your setup from any angle:

  • Rotate: Click and drag with the left mouse button.
  • Pan: Click and drag with the right mouse button.
  • Zoom: Use the mouse scroll wheel.
  • Fit to Screen: Click the blue button in the overlay to reset the camera to the default view.

6. Save and Share

  • Copy Link: Use the link icon to copy a unique URL to your clipboard. This link contains all your current settings, allowing you to share the exact configuration with colleagues.
  • Download PDF: Generate a professional Axion Displays Specification Report containing your 3D visualization and all technical configuration details.
  • Request Quote: Send your configuration directly to the Axion Displays team for a formal quote or technical review.
